Bowers and Wilkins is a British brand known all around the globe for its natural shaped Nautilus speakers. If you have never heard about them you probably are just entering this world of audio. Model DM 220 is quite old and simple construction, We have here two similar paper drivers and one dome textile tweeter. This is three way speakers with closed box made of thin chipboard. Inside we want find nothing special, simple as that. Knocking on the wall test will reveal that whole construction is quite fragile. But lets listen first before making statements.
Big boxes and two woofers suggested that this construction will have good base, and I was right.
Low frequencies are present and sound is rich. Middle is gentle and does not interfere.
Problematic bit is the high range, where treble are not as clear and detail as you would expect.
Lack of this element can distract and cause rejection what is normal. We do not want to listen to music which we do not enjoy.
Overall speakers are fine in the price range GBP30-60. DMs can produce lot of sound as application in home cinema without help of Sub they should be fine. Problematic bit might be high quality jazz, sould, rock, in stereo configuration.
